Big Bamboo

It's like Lord of the Flies hovering above Manhattan, Doug + Mike Starn on the Roof: Big BambĂș at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC is an architectural sculpture built of sturdy bamboo and bright nylon ropes (that remind one distinctly of friendship bracelets) measuring 100 feet long, 50 feet wide, and 50 feet high and feels like a growing organism and playhouse at the same time. Hope you get to see it before is closes on Halloween!

Masks/Kites/Arrows/Wings/Idols

The bright and beautiful offerings of Fredericks and Mae from useful party accessories to spiritual idols and of course iridescent feather wings. See more on their site!

Funny ladies make the world go round, Part 1

Reading Style.com's roundup of the funniest beauty icons of the 20th century reminded this video, one of my favorite's of all time probably because it involves Gilda Radner, extremely amazing high waisted purple jeans and of course some Le Bain worthy dance moves.

Foxy Roxie

With her incredible jewelry and out of this world up dos, Carole Davis as Roxie Shield in 1987's Mannequin surely deserves to be beauty icon of the month. Now, the movie is silly and exists in the time of questionable plot lines (mannequin comes to life to save an artist's career??) but as opposed to the star Kim Cattrall's blond California looks, Roxie is dark, mysterious, a little evil and has the best collection of earring I've ever seen. She uses her sexuality to make even the largest of power suits work in her favor, and is truly an inspiration for the put together business woman look that will hopefully be brought back with a vengeance.
